With an objective to engage & encourage young people across the country Smile Foundation & SIFFCY - Smile International Film Festival for Children & Youth in collaboration with Picture Paathshala, is hosting a free online Film Festival, during Indian Independence Day weekend from 14-16 August 2020. The festival attempts to break the monotony of Covid-19 lockdown for children confined at home and bring to them more meaningful visual content.
With the aim of reaching to approximately 100,000 children from various backgrounds, from across the globe the program will be a mix of more than 50 different handpicked films made by children from all parts of the country on various topics relevant to the young audiences, pep talks , filmmaking workshops & interactive panels. The main objectives of this festival to encourage young storytellers showcase their talent through creative storytelling. In order to ensure that this festival is accessible by children from all backgrounds, Smile Foundation will be enrolling its beneficiaries from the Mission Education programme to attend.

We have been innovating our programmes in all core areas to best serve the needs of the people, especially young people keeping in mind the current challenges. SIFFCY, our annual flagship Children & youth film festival is no different. Now we are hosting a special online film festival that will program inspiring films made by children only. Various capacities building Online Workshops are also part of it. It is more important than ever to ensure that our children are positively motivated and constantly engaged through various activities, enabling their cognitive growth.” said Mr. Santanu Mishra, Co-Founder, and Executive Trustee, Smile Foundation.

Films pedagogy is an effective and influential medium of educating and entertaining children. This combination of story-telling and entertainment is very effective. We are thrilled to collaborate with “Picture Paathshala” (PPL) for this Online Film Festival to achieve our shared vision of bringing joyful learning experience to children who have been confined at their homes for so many days”.
